*DISCLAIMER: I went to Paris in April...I've just decided to post the
content on my blog now, now that I'm getting into this.*

Anyways, back to the blog! If you got the reference from the title then you're 100x cooler. For those who didn't get the reference that's okay, it's referring to a Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen movie. I grew up looking up to MK&A especially for fashion/style. I was more of an Ashley fan because she was the girly-girl, and the awkward pre-teen tomboy me was dying to be more girly. When this movie came out in 1999 I was 9 years old. I am now 29, this movie came out 20 years ago! I can't even recall how many times I watched this movie. This was the movie that made me dream about going to Paris one day. I dreamt about seeing the beautiful architecture & scenery, hearing the beautiful sounds and the french speaking Parisians, taking pictures and living life like a Parisienne. I first visited Paris back in May 2017 (See my previous blog posts). I fell in love instantly. I think Paris is the most romantic place in the world (don't @ me). It is the city of love after all! This is why I was so excited to go back to my favourite place in the world with my favourite person in the world, the love of my life! J and I have travelled together before, in fact we took our first trip as a couple three months into the relationship! The saying goes, trips are a make it or break it for relationships. With the multiple trips we've been on, we are definitely closer and stronger as a couple.

I am an OCD traveler and J is the complete opposite. It's perfect because we balance each other out. I'm usually the one planning and making up a whole detail itinerary for our trips. I planned everything down to the very hour of each day (with some give to account for being late due to traffic or getting caught up, etc). Paris is the first leg of our Europe trip. London and Amsterdam were also in our itinerary. We flew from Vancouver to Montreal with Air Transat (this was the same airline I used last time). The flight going to Paris went smoothly (I will talk about our troubles with the airline on a later blog post). We had a layover in Montreal. We got in pretty late and we didn't really have a long layover, due to the time change, so we ended up only having time for a quick bite to eat before our flight. But of course we couldn't skip the bar! We had a drink (or maybe 2) which was perfect as we both just ended up passing out on our flight to Paris. J is always the one who sleeps like a baby on our trips (whether it's a car, a plan, or a train). I'm usually the one who is up because I'm anxious/excited.

We got to Paris the next morning. Little ol' me was already giddy, with a grin from ear to ear, on the Uber ride to our AirBnb. I absolutely loved our AirBnb. Our AirBnb was in the 9th arrondissement by Palais Garnier. We were situated on the very top floor, and of course I picked a place with a working elevator! Random fact: elevators are not common in most Parisian apartments. We had a cute, yet big balcony that we actually got to enjoy for the duration of our stay. Little fact about me: Parisian rooftops/balconies are my weakness. Also, we were a 5 minute walk to the most beautiful mall I've ever seen, Galleries Lafayette. It looks more like a monument or a museum rather than a mall! This was a blessing and a curse at the same time because I have a shopping problem (when in Paris am I right). And what do you know the first order of business, well at least my first order of business, ALWAYS when I land in Paris is SHOPPING. I think I scared J cause I did some damage in a span of a couple of hours. Apparently he was impressed with the amount of damage I did in a short amount of time. It didn't help that they served champagne at every store I went in to.

More to come in a more detailed, and separate blog post about our
first official day in Paris next week! Stay tuned!
